USU Extension Day on the Hill | |
The ROI program highlighted its economic impacts at the 2025 USU Extension Day on the Hill. With over 600 rural job placements and 24 new revenue-generating e-commerce websites for rural small businesses and agricultural operations, the ROI program continues to grow and innovate across all its workforce training courses and business development services. First high school cohort completes Certified Remote Work Professional course | |
We piloted the first cohort for students at Washington County’s Career & Technical High School from September - December 2024. Eighteen (18) students completed the rigorous 30-hour course, learning new digital communication skills and tools for jobs in the modern workplace. The next cohort starts February 2025, then the course will open to high school students statewide next fall semester. | |

Economic summit and data symposiums help Utah leaders prepare for the future | |
ROI Program Director and Extension Professor Dr. Paul Hill recently served on the planning committee for the What’s Up Down South Economic Summit and the Rural Utah Data Symposium, held January 9–10. Both events surpassed 1,200 attendees and provided leaders from across Utah with valuable data and insights to make informed business decisions in 2025. These gatherings highlighted the importance of strategic planning and data-driven approaches in driving economic growth and resilience statewide.
