Student of the month: KC BartonMy husband travels the western United States for his construction business so remote work is an absolute necessity for me. I first heard about the ROI program from the county commissioner of Washington County and signed up after I graduated with my masters from Utah State. I had spent months looking for a job before starting the Remote Work Certificate course. Between the career center (Nate Jensen) and using the concepts I learned in the ROI program, changing my job search strategy to remote job offer was only 2 weeks at my dream company (Home Depot)! I will forever be grateful for USU and all of the resources they invest to make remote work possible for people like me! Go Aggies!!!

Partner of the month: Chanté LembkeChanté Lembke has been working at LedgerGurus as the HR Generalist for the last 5 years. LedgerGurus is a fully-remote client accounting services firm that has had a great partnership with the Remote Online Initiative program over the years. Chanté took our leadership course to get a better understanding of the program and to connect with the students graduating from our Certified Remote Work Professional course in hopes of providing remote jobs opportunities in the future. Chanté has loved working remotely at LedgerGurus because it simply are a fantastic company! Remote work has also allowed her to stay home to raise her four young children. Chanté lives in northern Utah and loves being outside among trees, hiking, or working in her garden with her kids when they are in a good mood.

The office is dying. It's time to rethink how we work
On the Ezra Klein Show, Rogé Karma interviews Anne Helen Petersen and Charlie Warzel to discuss how the great retreat from office life could make work better for everyone.
In many cases, remote work has become synonymous with meeting fatigue, the collapse of work-life balance, overwhelming amounts of email and Slack messages and awkward attempts at social connection. And hybrid work setups often represent what some have called the worst of both work worlds: long commutes to half-empty offices, just to sit on Zoom calls all day.
